Mission Accomplished.

As we feared yesterday, Ed Epstein manage to write the article stating that Bush vetoed the Iraq funding bill without mentioning that he did so 4 years after declaring the war over.

The fact that the signature happened on that anniversary was thus treated in the Chron as a controversy ignited by resentful Democrats, and the President gets a free pass for a stunt that is heavy on symbolism.

The NY Times had an article on-line (but it looks like it has been modified or I cannot find it again) yesterday which covered the same topic, but added a few quotes from Dana Perino, the White House spokesperson, whining about the Democrats making hay of the anniversary. So at least you knew where the "controversy" that Epstein is dutifully reporting is coming from.

Comments:
hey - no one, and i mean no one, feels worse about the whole "mission accomplished" thing than dana perino!
