Sunshine State Warriors.
We've been slacking on our coverage of the Chron. The fault is ours, the Chron is still as sucky as ever. We had to chuckle with the picture below, from the end finale of the lackluster Golden State Warriors season. They played the San Antonio Spurs, and what best to illustrate a match-up between our Oakland boys and the Texas kids, than a totally unrelated picture of .... Miami Heat guard Dwayne Wade.

As much as the Chron is an organizational failure, it is topped, hands down, by the Golden State Warriors. After an exciting 2 year run, the Warriors lost B-Diddy to the Clippers (where he ended up stinking up the joint big time) and in exchange, their big acquisitions were Corey Maggette and Jamal Crawford, both decent players who just disappeared in the Warriors karmic vortex. They were mostly "injured" until a trade will rescue them and restore their health. Chris Mullin's track record as a GM is atrocious (Maggette, Crawford, overpaying for Murphy, Dunleavy, or Richardson, the Richardson trade fornothing Brandan Wright). We'll end this rant here.
update: plus, we're behind the curve anyway, Mullin is already fired.

ced, if you went to some games this year and had a chance to see rookies anthony morrow and anthony randolph play, you wouldn't be so down on the homeboys! plus, kelenna and biedrins are young and can play, and monta will be back. this team has some SERIOUS upside.
Mullin overpaid for Ronny Turiaf too, but he's French. Maybe the kids will turn to be good. But the Warriors have had pretty nice picks for a while now, and they end up running away. Remember Gil Arenas?
he was a free agent - the wizards offered him something like 50 million, the warriors couldn't match it. besides, as great as arenas is, he's injured half the time.
anyway, someone please kill me before i start waxing optimistic about the warriors ...

The Warriors did not want to match for Agent 0 because of salary cap issues. They were being cheap. The Wizzards got a good deal at the time (they re-signed him this past summer, for a craptacular deal).
Anyhow, if you place your hope on the kids, then you're forgetting that they are coached by Don Nelson, who's going to screw their minds. In the dog house, out of the dog house, in the dog house, etc. 34mn one game, DNP-CD the next 3...
Plus, Nellie has not figured yet that his best player is Biedrins, who can give him a 20-20 on any night, if he only let him on the court.

exhibit A is anthony morrow - you've GOT to play that guy every minute of every game. his shooting percentage is way too high to ever have him sitting on the bench. he's an assassin out there. he'd score 37, 22, then he'd sit on the bench for a week. what the hell for? and why was randolph sitting on the bench the whole season? he might be their best player! nelson is certifiably insane.
